No excuses

Don't use the broken shoulder as an excuse to not still shooting, Frank said.

And he's right, for now I scanned and color correct, but I'll keep shooting soon. Maybe now.

The festival itself was ... quite ... kind of ... I mean ... you know... but it could be better for sure

http://www.nyphotofestival.com

just a quick note, I went to pavillon n.1-2-4, some interesting stuff: Edith Maybin in n.2 ( http://edithmaybin.com/about.htm ) , she is strong, a lot. In the pavillon n. 4 there is the collective exhibition curated by John Levi, Home For Good, with the work of
Venetia Dearden ( http://www.venetiadearden.com/main.htm ) , I love love her, it's one of the few time when I really see the need of using a camera to tell something, maybe because it's about emotions. Of course you can find the opposite way of using a camera in the same pavillon, please discover it by your selves.

to be continued...

It's an interesting story about photoshop...

I don't see anything new to be honest, in photoshop you can of course change a lot of stuff, and people get scandalized for this. What about in the darkroom? So for me the problem is not only ethical, but even before it's about aesthetic (photographers are supposed to be quite good in aesthetic, not so obvious in ethic). Even if you don't have a judge that disapproves your workflow you should realize that pushing at the maximum color contrast and saturation means almost nothing, you can just have a really bad picture (sure, at least full of color, but who cares)

Foto da prima pagina - the first page of the NYT 3/10/09...terrible

thought

Henri Cartier-Bresson famously said, "The world is going to pieces and people like Adams and Weston are photographing rocks." But I don't think the world would have been a better place if these photographers had headed off to a war zone. The question is whether you can be a political photographer while you photograph rocks. My pictures don't have a specific social commentary but I think they have social and political meaning.

Unseen New York/Picture making

i love the idea to show ny in other ways instead of the classic sterotypes. New york means nothing, it's a lot of different things, and the city in manhattan is the smallest part. These pictures are taken in Staten Island, which is a very attractive place, a little far away from where I am living now.
